Q: We have a small seaside holiday flat in the south of France that is empty when we aren't using it. Can we offer the flat, as well as our main home in London, for a home swap? - Janet, London
A: You can certainly list your holiday home for home exchange. Although you can mention your flat in France in your London listing, your offer will stand out better if the flat is listed separately under France. First, complete a Home Base Holidays membership form for your London home. Then, from your member area, you will be able to add a second listing (there is a tick box option on the form to show that this is a second home).
There’s a large number of second homes listed on the site (when browsing listings look for the little house icon with the number 2). Offering a holiday/second home gives the flexibility to offer non-simultaneous exchanges; this can be very useful if you can't find dates for a simultaneous exchange to suit both you and your exchange partners. You can also offer the best of both worlds, a two centre swap - the attractions of a busy city break in London along with a more relaxing time in France in your seaside flat.
