I wonder about this too. We are honoring a home exchange 3 years after staying at their home. The only contact we have is through email and what if we moved? Home exchanging has become more than a business deal. There are trust and friendships formed and after staying in someone's home and experiencing their community, you feel like you somehow know them, maybe even walked in their shoes a bit (actually, I did wear a pair of their garden shoes once). I love home exchanges. We've been able to stretch out our vacations to a few months because of it!
