Q: We live in Spain in a house that commands £2k per week in high season. We are looking for a long term home swap, up to a year, in central London. do extended swaps ever come up? best, Jonathan
A: Although long-term home exchanges are not nearly as common as shorter holiday swaps, there are a good number of members who do want to swap for a few months or up to a year (sometimes even longer). To check for current offers in London that might be suitable, use advanced search (Show more options).
Choose England from the drop down country list and London from the state/county list. Choose Long Term Exchange from the drop down list by ‘Type of Exchange’. Search.
When looking for a lengthy period, especially if the exchange needs to be for set dates and location, it is a good idea to join several months before the dates wanted so that your offer is in circulation for a good long time and you can contact new members as they join.
Spain is a popular destination with London members and it’s very possible you would find interest from retired members able to be flexible on length and dates of exchange and from freelance workers who can live/work anywhere.

A large five bedroom Victorian house in Stoke Newington, North East London, close to the 2012 Olympics site. The top floor master bedroom has a secluded roof terrace and en-suite. There are 2 other bedrooms, bathroom and wc on the 1st floor, through lounge, cloakroom and kitchen diner opening onto a pretty patio garden, on the ground floor. We love living in Stoke Newington, traditionally bohemian, now gentrified and very child friendly. It has cafes, restaurants and bars as well as parks and sports facilities. It is also close to the happening areas of Islington, Dalston and Shoreditch. This is a great base to explore London by bus, train or bike. Full home exchange offer.

There is excellent public transport with easy access to central London for shops, theatre, cinema, museums and music. Kilburn offers a good base for exploring London. We are close to the Tricycle Theatre and Cinema and the Theatre is renowned for its world class productions. Our property is on three floors and is quite spacious with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a beautiful garden at the rear of our well equipped kitchen, a good place to enjoy breakfast on a warm summer morning. Full home exchange offer.
