In a recent Q & A post below, Must a family live in a super luxurious home to home swap?, we gave some ideas on how to find homes for exchange most likely to be suitable for families with young children. The starting point is to limit search results to members who have indicated 'children welcome' in their offers. Note the little icon to the left beside these listings in search results. You will also see the number and ages of children in full listings.
Although many homes will be safe for young children (grandparents who regularly have their grandchildren to stay for instance), most families prefer to exchange homes with other members with similar aged children. Knowing that a home is set up for babies and toddlers with equipment, toys, books and games, saves the hassle of packing and bringing so much with you. In turn, your well equipped home will be much appreciated by your exchange guest family.
When compiling your home exchange offer description (that can be changed or added to whenever you want), think about how you can attract members similar to yourself for a perfect match. Here are a couple of quotes from recent exchange offers:
'Our house is a semi-detached dormer bungalow with three bedrooms and is probably best described as a beach house decorated somewhere between the shabby and the chic! Neither too posh but friendly, relaxing & clean. It is a family home and as such is very comfortable and spacious with open-plan living accommodation.' Home exchange offer in Shoreham-by-Sea, W. Sussex, England.
'We're new to home swapping but it sounds a brilliant way to see new places. Our ideal swap would be with another family and our house is all set up for babies and toddlers so if you have little ones too you wouldn't need to bring any kit/toys. We can even recommend a babysitter!' Home exchange offer in London (nursery in photo).
