Brad & Jane, new home exchange members from Sunnyvale, California wrote about the photo above:
"This is a favorite photo of our spoiled Flower. She is gentle and low maintenance - a little love, a little food and she is a very happy 'Fat-Cat'."
Leaving a much loved family pet at home in the care of home swap guests is much preferable for most pet owners to the alternative, expensive (and often stressful) option of boarding a pet in kennels or a cattery. One of the many advantages of home exchange is that, not only will your home be cared for while you are on vacation, but many home exchangers are very happy to care for resident pets.
Home Base Holidays members can indicate in their exchange offers if they would like pet care and/or can offer it. Many members are also happy for their home swap guests to bring pets with them to their home (you will see the little 'dog' icon beside such listings in search results).
Even if you plan to have your pets looked after elsewhere, it is important to make others aware what animals normally live in your home (in case of allergies).
It's clear to see that Flower is a much pampered cat who looks very relaxed on her own sofa with the remote control to paw (and possibly a spot of relaxed garden planning?). I'm sure that many exchange members will be more than happy to care for Flower but, in order not to discourage contact from members who prefer not to be tied by pet care, Brad and Jane have also made it clear in their offer that alternative arrangements can be made:
"We have a cat that we'd love to have you care for, but we'd be willing to board her if you 'purr-fur'."
The couple live in the warm heart of Silicon Valley, less than an hour south of San Francisco. Their comfortable, one-story, modern home is in a very safe & friendly neighborhood. See their full home exchange offer.
Brad and Jane are looking for a home exchange to London next summer for the 2012 Olympics with their daughter to cheer on her Stanford diving teammates. They've come to the right place as Home Base Holidays, being a London home exchange service, already has many London members offering their homes for exchange for all or part of the period of the Games. Read further details, plus information for visitors to London, at London 2012 Olympics Home Exchange.
