On Tuesday, we passed on valuable advice from this week's issue of Ratealert, the newsletter published by Moneysupermarket.com, on checking your insurance cover before taking your car to Europe. Here's another useful tip from this edition that could save you the great stress on holiday of having your credit card rejected:
'The other thing to add to your to-do list before you go away is calling your bank or credit card provider and letting them know which country you're going to and how long you'll be away for. If you don't, you risk having your account frozen if you use your debit or credit card while you're away. This is part of the banks' strategy of tackling card fraud - if they see "unusual activity" on your account it can be blocked just in case it's a fraudster.'
