This is the headline in an article by Nuala McAloon published in the FermanaghHerald on Wednesday. We now know the participant putting the case for home exchange as a money saving holiday option on 'Highly Recommended' this Sunday will be Fermanagh resident and Home Swappers subscriber (also Home Base Holidays member, currently expired), Mervyn Walker.
The Walker family are firm believers in home exchange as a cheaper form of holiday that saves on accommodation and car hire, having had over 20 exchanges around the world since 1987.
To quote from Nuala's article:
'The value they suggest, is obvious. When Mervyn and Adele went to Switzerland they saved themselves the cost of two weeks' accommodation amounting to 1,973 euro and car hire costing 544 euro. That's a total saving of 2,577 euro for two. Other savings, he suggests, include dining out as you have cooking facilities available to you in the home. And add another bonus, Mervyn and Adele have made friends with various families all around the world and still keep in touch by e-mail.'
Let's hope that Mervyn is able to convince the panel that home exchange should indeed be 'Highly Recommended', so that the Walker family win 2,000 euro.
