Northern Ireland is a beautiful country and it easy to tour from one main base, making arranging a home exchange there ideal. Visit the country and meet the charming people to learn more about a local area. One recent Home Base Holidays member gives an excellent description: The house is beside a railway station which will take you to Belfast in 15 minutes. A 5 minute walk will take you to the beach with sandy coves, a 5 minute drive will take you to long sandy beaches and a beautiful country park. Also on my doorstep, The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is a landscape of authentic Irish buildings brought together to recreate life from 1850 until present day - it makes a fascinating day out! Belfast is buzzing with events, shops, museums, cafes - the city is vibrant with a history to explore and a bright future ahead. Local town Holywood has many restaurants and interesting speciality shops. The beauty of Northern Ireland is that everything can be reached in less than 2 hours! Bushmills Whiskey, the Giant's Causeway and expansive beaches with surf await on the north coast; pretty lakes, caves and castles to the west and mountains with forests to the south.' 'My house (in Holywood, Co Down) was built in 2005 - it's design was based on the traditional red brick railway station houses locally. It is a spacious and comfortable house which is great for entertaining, but cosy enough to relax in front of log burning fires too!
Ireland is famous for its unpredictable and wet weather. It can be hot one day and cold the next, wet one hour and sunny the next hours.
With its unique weather, there are still many places for people on home swaps to enjoy.
