'When we joined Home Base Holidays we did not consider the possibility of "local swaps". We joined purely with overseas travel in mind.
However, when we were approached by a couple in Sydney (we live on Australia's Gold Coast 1000 kls away) we were surprised at how appealing it was for us to swap with them. They have a lovely apartment in Darling Harbour (Central Sydney) so walking distance to everything and it gave us the opportunity to mix with family and friends while we were there. For their part, they had a conference to attend with their son on the Gold Coast and so our home was ideal. We even caught the Chinese New Year and the Dragon Boat racing on the harbour complete with evening fire works ... a wonderful swap!! So, my suggestion to others is, when you are surveying the Home Base Holidays home exchange site don't forget to look locally and think outside the square as they say!' Kind regards, Maureen
Maureen let me know that on this swap she and husband, Gerry, had managed to not lock themselves out of the home as had happened on their exchange last year to England! (Maureen's story was published on the blog in four installments as 'The Saga of the Keys').
Check out Maureen and Gerry's attractive home exchange offer on the Gold Coast, HE14532.
