A: Although there certainly are many large and luxurious homes in the Home Base Holidays listings, don't let this put you off - lots of members live in modest homes too! When considering home exchange offers, most people aren't looking necessarily for a home similar to their own but rather at the location: is it in a country or area they would like to visit? Are places of interest easily accessible from the home? After location, members will check the number of people the home will sleep to decide if it will be suitable and, if they have any special needs, whether these are available in the home. In fact, many members like to swap to homes that are very different from their own. Your townhouses in both Anchorage or Hawaii will seem very 'exotic' and therefore, attractive, to many members. If you are fairly open yourself on exchange destinations, you should certainly find interest in both of your condos. Note: if you join Home Base Holidays and list one condo, you will then be able to add a separate listing for your second home at the reduced rate of £10*. Cross references will be added to both listings to make it easy for members and site visitors to find the descriptions for both. *For the current rate of exchange between pounds sterling and US dollars (or other currencies) check the Oanda currency converter. Q: My wife and I and our two children aged 3 and 5, have a 1400 sq. foot townhouse in Anchorage, Alaska and a 800 sq. foot condo on the big island of Hawaii. I would like to join the exchange program but am concerned that it is more for large luxury homes. Do you think anyone would be interested in exchanging with us? - John K.
Are you kidding? Being from Alaska, everyone would want to swap with you. I was browsing this site tonight Alaska.org and saw videos of about a dozen tours I would die to do!
