A: It is of course up to individual Home Base Holidays members to decide who they will consider swapping homes with and, if it is important to them to swap with members with what may appear to be a comparable home to their own, that's fine. However, comparing property values is not the best way to judge a home. As an example: a modest Edwardian semi in a London suburb is very likely to be worth in market terms more than many large, luxurious rural homes with acres of land and swimming pools! In many cases, a modest home may actually be better placed for visiting lots of attractions than a luxurious, but remote home. Those with modest homes are likely to be just as careful with their own and an exchange partner's property as someone very well off (who may be less careful if used to employing others to look after his home!) It really all depends what you are looking for in an exchange - a particular type of house or, to visit an area of interest while staying in a conveniently situated home large enough to accommodate your family. Q: Is there any way to ensure that the family with whom one exchanges homes has a comparable home (equal value to protect for each other)? - Joy, Yorba Linda, CA, USA
Great! Thanks for posting.

I agree home value would be one of the last things I would consider. Location and personal interest would be a main concern. I would also be concerned with the accommodations does it fit my needs.
