The main theme of the Dec/Jan newsletter is communication, i.e. how vitally important good and regular communication is to ensure a home exchange goes to plan and is a great experience for all involved. The communication theme is included in three articles in the newsletter written by different Home Base Holidays members.
The main feature article, 'Home Exchange: Planning for the Unexpected', is different from the home swap story articles we usually publish. It is an excellent report written by Home Base Holidays member Connie Pearce, listing HE14428, on the steps she and her husband have taken before an exchange to ensure, in the unlikely event their exchange to Canada can't go ahead as planned, that their Canadian exchange partners will not be left without a place to stay in England (but will either be able to stay in the Pearces' own home in Wiltshire or in rented accommodation nearby, costs covered by the Pearces).
This home exchange weblog was first introduced to Home Base Holidays members and Home Swappers subscribers in the Oct/Nov edition. Since then, we have added a surprisingly large number of posts (with comments added to some) - much more content than can be easily covered in a bi-monthly newsletter. Hopefully, the links to specific web post topics included in this issue plus further general information on the weblog, will encourage more to visit regularly, leave comments and send suggestions for future posts.
Note: this newsletter, published on 1 Dec, is now available to read on the website but, as we used a new template for the first time, there may be a few links not working (only at the very top and bottom of the page, not within the newsletter itself) - until I figure out how to fix them!
