Marguerite Payen, a Guardian Home Exchange member and experienced home exchanger from Harrogate, Yorkshire, looks back on her 2017 home swaps:
"New Year's Eve: spent with friends and my travel companions of 2017 and we had so much to talk about:
Holidays here in London, where we discovered the fantastic bus service from Tooting Bec - what a colourful and historical ride into London!
To Cornwall, from haunting moor to sun kissed sandy coves, and a wonderful home to relax in!
Then on to Italy, full of sun and the heady heights of the Tuscan hills, where we found wonderful little local restaurants, whitewashed churches and ancient villages, followed by the Bay of Naples and the Amalfi coast where the scenery is indescribably lovely, with so much to see; and we had the great luck to stay with an archaeologist! He took us to places we would never have found, and told us so much about the history of the Bay, from the ancient Romans to now, and all whilst sampling the very best of Italy - espressos, gelato, pizza, the circumvesuviana trains!
And so to 2018, when we shall soon be in Dublin, then Rome, and in June we are off to France and who knows where next!
So all the best for 2018 to Guardian Home Exchange and Home Base Holidays, and thanks for the memories! Happy new year" - Marguerite
